Overview of the I-Share (UB) Resource Sharing Environment: Background, Relationships, and Processes.
The CARLI Office will be offering a webinar, “Overview of the I-Share Universal Borrowing (UB) Resource Sharing Environment: Background, Relationships, and Processes” on Thursday, August 4, from 1:30–2:30 pm.
Adapted from the UB Training provided to libraries joining I-Share, this webinar will cover the foundational principles and processes that establish UB in Voyager. The intended audience is current I-Share library staff that work with, or are interested in, I-Share Resource Sharing.
Library staff already familiar with Voyager Circulation and Call Slip will get more from this UB webinar, however all library staff may attend. This webinar will be a chance to refresh your understanding and ask questions you may have.
The webinar will help you be able to answer these questions:
- What is Universal Borrowing (UB)?
- How are settings standardized across I-Share?
- How does Voyager know which of my patrons are able to borrow from other I-Share libraries?
- How does Voyager know whether another library’s patron can borrow my library’s materials?
- What do UBIN, UBLong, UBReg, and UBNonCirc mean?
- What are ILLINET libraries?
- How are patron records used during UB transactions?
- What are the differences between Local Call Slips and UB Call Slips?
- What steps does a typical request go through?
- What is request promotion and how does it work?
Click on the "Register" tab to register individually or to represent a group. The registration deadline is Wednesday, August 3rd. Connection information will be sent closer to the date of the webinar.
